Sorry for the long wait, but it's finally here!
My portfolio yayy.

It's Alice in Wonderland, but everything is Asian!

I started working on this since last summer with early, rough sketches of the white rabbit.  I pulled references from google and deviant art just so I can get a feel of different versions of wonderland. Tim Burton's of course is going to be the best one version out there.

Alice in Wonderland didn't actually start until I came back from Taiwan, which was towards the end of August.  And once school started, it was pretty hard to juggle between class and homework, but like always, due to intensive multi-tasking of doodling/paying attention in class, I was able to prevail.

Some of the ideas behind the characters, the props, and the environments took a while to think up.  I had to constantly think about Alice's adventure and play it like a movie, or simulate it as a painting.  I really wanted to capture a surreal-quality to wonderland and through the characters.

It was alot of hard work, but I feel that it ultimately paid off pretty well.
The portfolio was originally meant for Art Center College of Design of the Entertainment Design program, but I've sent pieces of this portfolio to other schools as well, such as Laguna College of Art and Design, Otis College of Art and Design, and UCLA.  So far I've been accepted to 4 out of the 8 schools I've applied to.
Wish me luck haha.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright it's 2:50 am, 3/2/10 and I'm done uploading my portfolio on both dA and blogspot.
Blogspot has the entire format that I sent to Art Center College of Design, and it contains extra stuff like rough sketches, turnarounds, props, "vehicles", and sketches of the Queen's Castle.
You guys should definitely check it out

Well I've enjoyed these pictures since you first started putting them up. You've really improved since I've first started watching you. Also good Luck with getting into the art collage you want. And hope you don't get into one unknowing-ling that if full of stuck up snobs who say certain things aren't art. (I've heard stories from other artists)

lol everything is pretty much art. I just consider some stuff...BS art (most fanart, most anime art, pollock-esque art, etc.)? But this of course is just generalizing. There are always exceptions.
It's my opinion and preference though and am totally open for debate.

Nonetheless, I'm willing to stop and look at art, regardless of what style it came from.

haha I'll try not to be a snob after coming out of Art Center. I've heard people get really arrogant coming out of there. :) keep me accountable yo. Quote me if you have to.

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland is going to be epic at the very least.

Anyways, Good luck.

You should do well in the end.

I love how you asian-ized the work. I started reading the book for the first time (i got the one with pictures) and enjoy it as much as i do the Disney film. I remember loving this so much because there was a living deck of cards on the loose. Hard to believe the entire debacle was caused by a rogue card stealing the Queen's food and eating it.

Yea.
My version doesn't have any living cards though :(
